National ArchiveA national
archive is in the making. Some remnant Portuguese and Indonesian materials
have been preserved. Timorese staff have trained in Portugal, Malaysia and
Darwin.Human Rights ArchiveTimor-Leste's Commission for Reception, Truth and Reconciliation
is collecting important materials and testimony from 1974-1999. There are
plans to convert the Commission's building into a human rights centre, museum
and archive.

"Mr Carrascalao said that, as the
Indonesian-appointed governor of East Timor between 1982 and 1992, he had
received thousands of letters from women telling of rapes and killings,
which he would contribute to the archives of the truth and reconciliation
commission."
